Ian Woodhead has been an International trainer for the past 20 years, competing internationally until hanging up his competition boots and committing his career to training both horses and riding.
Ian has been national team trainer to the pony team for over 15 years until 2006 when he decided through family commitments to hand over the reins. In his 15 years he won 10 European team medals and bought into the UK through his and Andrew Graham's Dressage Horse International (DHI) most of the team ponies, matched riders to them and produced the combinations, along side this he also did the same for many junior, young rider and senior combinations, training riders from European pony level through to top senior International level.
At present Ian trains not only dressage riders but many event riders from novice to 4* level. He has a very impressive client base at both pure dressage and event dressage at all levels, especially top level.
Ian has been lucky enough to be born into a horse background owning a very successful training yard in Grimsly with all facilities, and also a state of the art yard for event horses in Yorkshire with his wife Heidi Woodhead who is at present one of our top event riders.
Ian also has horses in Lancashire with his partner Andrew Graham, where they both run Dressage Horse International, one of the UK's top importers of Dressage and Sport horses, with horses competing in dressage, eventing and show jumping at all levels. Ian was founder of the pony BYRDS system and also the founder of pony talent spotting. In all Ian has had a very successful career and goes from strength to strength helping all levels of riders and horses.
